BORDER MEASURES - In furtherance of TRIPS and Andean Community Decisions, Decree 4540 of December 22 of 2006 of the Colombian Ministry of the Treasury has been recently enacted, adopting procedures for the lodging of an application in writing with the custom authorities for the suspension by the custom authorities of a release into free circulation of any goods when a right holder has valid grounds for suspecting that the importation, exportation or transit of counterfeit trademark or pirated copyright goods may take place. PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE FEES RAISED – Effective January 2, 2007, the Colombian Patent and Trademark Office has raised its fees.
